PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Costume design inspires and encourages students to learn, interpret or create original works based on theatre plays, musicals or movies. Students learn how to read scripts for costuming purposes then apply historical costume and fashion knowledge towards their creations. Students learn to sew, make patterns, drape, illustrate, choose fabrication and reference history through costume.
CLASSES: Costume I: Beginning students learn costume history and illustration through the creation of a portfolio.
Costume II: Advanced costume students learn to sew, make patterns and create simple costumes for plays/shows. They add to the skills learned in costume I of costume illustration and history.
Costume III: Advanced costume students learn to sew, make patterns, create complex costumes and accessories for plays/shows. They add to the skills learned in costume I of costume illustration and history.
